19th Century Meteorology
John Park Finley, Tornadoes (1887).
In this book, the first to be devoted to the study of tornadoes, Finley advanced the notion (no longer accepted) that one should seek shelter on the side of a house facing an oncoming tornado. This copy, a gift of the first NSSL Director, Edwin Kessler, contains Finley's signature.
